I took my sister and her husband to the alpaca farm to meet the alpacas. She had never seen one before and she loved little Doodlebug. We had a good time together and I hope they can come again soon.
I hope you enjoy this fun space where I can share my love of alpacas. Our farm is Woodsong Alpacas and is located in the mountains of North Georgia. We have a herd of ribbon-winning alpacas who give me beautiful cria (baby alpacas) and wonderful fiber to play with. We also have chickens that lay eggs of many colors and ducks that entertain us with their silly antics. I love to spin, weave, felt, almost anything that has to do with fiber.
Someone who loves the alpacas and the lifestyle they bring with them. I love their fiber - knitting, crocheting, needle felting, wet felting, spinning, anything with fiber. I guess you could call me a fiber doodler.
It all started a few years ago when I wanted to learn to spin fiber into yarn. I met a spinning instructor at Georgia Mountain Fiber in Blue Ridge, Georgia. I didn't realize at the time that is was a place for processing alpaca fiber. The lady there informed me that her father ran an alpaca farm a few miles down the road and that I should visit. I visited the farm a few days later and that was the day I fell in love. What beautiful and gentle creatures - and so unique. Did you know an alpaca hums? I started doing research and visiting alpaca farms. One of my visits was to Lasso the Moon Alpaca farm owned by Courtney and Holly Williams. We became good friends and I bought my first alpaca from them. Yep, it's Moonpie. And that's how this all started.
